Mobile Uploads

If you are anywhere near my age, do you remember when you were a kid and the internet first came out, and even though you'd never used it before (since it was new and all), you could figure it out pretty easily. And you'd laugh at your parents or *gasp* your grandparents because they had to have you set up their email for them and show them how in heaven's name to work that blasted contraption! Yeah, I am so that old parent now. I'd had the same "dumb" (you know, as opposed to smart) cell phone for almost 5 years and it never bothered me one bit. It was pink afterall! :) Then it finally bit the dust and I inherited another dumb phone from my bil. But this one could take pictures! I know, I am so lame. Well, I've had the phone for well over a month now (maybe even 2-3 mos?) and I couldn't figure out how to get the pictures from my phone to the computer. I didn't have any kind of cord to connect them, and my phone doesn't have wi-fi (which I will admit I pronounced "wiffy" for like a year) so I didn't think I could "send" them anywhere besides to another phone. Then someone told me I could "text" it to my email address. Really? You can do that? Apparently. When did I become *that* mom? ***sigh***

Yep, that's about right
So for a start, here are pics of the kids from our weekend at Canyon Lake.

Wizard of Oz

I'm getting all the last details of the kids' Halloween costumes in order. We'll be going to our church's Trunk or Treat again this year. They are going with a Wizard of Oz theme.

Natalie is going to be Dorothy. I bought her dress from a seller on etsy. It was only about $5 more than the cheapy store bought ones, and it's soooo nice. She even threw in matching hair bows and blue socks! I got her some ruby red slippers from Target. Now all I need to get is Toto. They sell some little stuffed totos in a basket at the party stores, but they upwards of $20. I already have the perfect basket, just need to find a little stuffed dog that can pass as Toto.

Erica is going to be Glinda the good witch. I got her a generic pink princess dress from the party store that lights up. I just ordered her the Glinda crown and wand from Halloween Costumes. And she has some silver shoes she can wear with it.

Graham will be reprising his lion costume from last year. It still fits him and it was just sooooo cute on him. I did also get him a "badge of courage" to wear with it to represent the Cowardly Lion.

And Leah is going to be a rainbow. I know it's not exactly traditional with the Wizard of Oz theme, but it goes! I ordered her a rainbow tutu from a seller on etsy. It will be paired with a white onesie (for the clouds) and a yellow flower on a headband for the sun. I think it will be adorable!

I will of course post pictures once we get everything together, but I just couldn't wait to share!

Piano

Photobucket
Eric grew up playing the piano, and I dabbled in it for awhile growing up. Eric has really wanted to get a nice electric piano for the house, and now that Natalie has started taking lessons, he decided it was a good time to make the investment. He even ordered himself some books so he can start playing again. Although, since he's working to finish his Master's this semester, I don't foresee him having much time until that is over.

He was showing Natalie how to use it the other day after he set it up. It was so cute to see them in there playing together. So far, Natalie loves her lessons and is doing really well.

7 months

Photobucket
At 7 months old, Leah is:
wearing size 3-6 mos clothes
wearing a size 2 diaper
nurses about 8 times a day
goes back and forth between sleeping through the night and waking 1-3 times
eats 1-2 jars of stage 2 baby food twice a day
is *almost* officially crawling - she's got the scoot/roll down pat, and can take 1 "step" of actual tummy-off-the-floor-crawl
can sit up on her own
has the cutest little smile
takes one long nap in the afternoon, and 2 catnaps in the morning/evening
still sleeps swaddled and in her swing
has totally warmed up to daddy - she's finally come around and I may lose my only mama's girl lol
loves her paci now, but only because it makes an excellent chew toy
doesn't care for the exersaucer or jumperoo much, and prefers to play on the floor with toys

I haven't taken her yet for a checkup, but going by our bathroom scale, I'm guessing she's around 16-17lbs now.

Canyon Lake

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last updated. Even though we homeschool, and it goes pretty much all year round, things get really busy for us when "school" starts. All of our other activities pick up again and we have to get back into full swing too. I've been soooo busy the past month. In fact, I've had to sit down and prioritize things because I had too much stuff going on. I've had to drop a few things we used to do because school has to take a priority. Unfortunately, blogging has taken a backseat. I'm hoping I can better manage my time and find a way to keep doing it all.

Anyway, this past weekend we went to Canyon Lake for Family Day for Eric's job. The kids had so much fun. The weather was great all weekend. It rained for awhile Saturday afternoon, but no thunder or lightning, so the kids still played in it, and temps seemed to fall a little with the rain which was really nice.
