Quick dr. updates

Leah had her 2 month check-up on Monday. She is 10lbs. 14oz. and 23". Growing awesomely!!! She got some shots and did just great! She cried when they were administered, but calmed down as soon as I picked her up. Of course she cried again when I had to put her in her carseat, but such is life. She slept A LOT that afternoon and didn't seem to feel too great when she was awake. But nothing a little dose of baby Tylenol and some extra TLC couldn't fix!

Erica had a follow-up with her dermatologist today. Her skin is clearing up nicely with the current meds/creams, so we're going to continue for another month and then go back and see her progress. She may also be getting an allergy test for fragrances and preservatives, which we think are the most likely culprits right now. That is a week long test though, where they apply the test strips to her back on Monday, take them off on Wednesday (which means we have to keep her back dry - no baths - and keep the stickers on), then check for reactions on Friday.

2 months and 18 months

My kiddos sure are growing fast! Leah turned 2 mos old on the 22nd and Graham turned 18 mos old on the 24th. I took some pics of the kids the other day that will have be the "official" pics for those milestones.

Working her way up to a smile

At 2 months old, Leah:
wears 0-3 mos size clothes
wears a size 1 diaper
is exclusively breastfeeding now
loves to be swaddled
hates her pacifier
will sometimes tolerate being worn in a sling/wrap/carrier but doesn't particularly like it
really hates her carseat
is starting to smile and coo at us
is still a generally happy baby

At 18 months old, Graham:
eats and drinks well. His favorite foods are: bananas, sandwiches (which he picks apart to eat), grapes, and yogurt.
takes 1 nap a day, lasting 2-3 hours
sleeps about 12-13 hours straight at night
has slimmed down some and is hard to fit! Most all of his shirts and one piece outfits are 24 mos, but his bottoms are all 12 or 18 mos.
wears a size 5.5-6 shoe
has 12 teeth
loves to play outside, especially with bubbles
says several words now, including mama, dada, nana (for banana), dog, car, and ball (which not coincidentally are all of his favorite things!)
loves being a big brother! He's always loving on Leah and trying to "help" with her. As you can see in one of the pics above, he thinks she needs a pacifier too, even though she HATES them. He likes to bring me blankets and burp cloths for her. We even got him his own baby to love on. I need to get pics of him with it because it is just.too.cute. how sweet he is to his baby!

Bluebonnet Outtakes

"Oh a flower! Can't quite reach it... just a little further now... almost there!"
"Got it! Ew, yuck! I don't want this nasty thing! There, all gone."
"Oh great, I think there's something on my hands now. Stupid flower making my hands dirty!"

Bluebonnets 2010

If I ever get enough time, I HAVE TO make a gag reel from these pics. There are some real jewels in there. Poor Graham just did NOT like the flowers what.so.ever! But I did manage to get some decent pics.

A Rare Occurrence

Leah loves to be swaddled, and rocked or swayed. Most of the time (like 90+% of the time) she sleeps swaddled, and in her swing. Well the other day, I had just finished nursing her and she was in a milk coma! I held her for about 30 min. before the other kids pleas for lunch were the priority. I got up and laid her back down on the couch, sure she'd wake up by the time my feet hit the tile in the kitchen. To my amazement, she continued to sleep so peacefully while I made the kids lunch. She just looked so precious laying there sleeping, so I took these pics. To more of my amazement, she even slept long enough for ME to eat lunch! HA!

6 weeks

First I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter! I hope everyone had fun hiding eggs, dressing in their Sunday best, and eating lots of chocolate! But most of all, I hope everyone took time to remember the reason we celebrate Easter. I am so thankful for my Jesus, who sacrificed His life here on earth for ME. And I am so thankful that because of His amazing grace, I will one day live with Him in paradise!

We went to Houston for the weekend to spend Easter with our families there. Saturday we went to Livingston and the kids had so much fun running around and looking for eggs.

Poor Erica had a tough weekend. Her eczema is sooo flared up. She is so so so miserable and just scratches all day long. I felt so bad for her because she just seemed to be so down most of the weekend. She definitely had moments of enjoying herself silly, but I hate seeing her so "off".

Leah loved all the attention she got from the family. She got passed around and couldn't have been happier to have the change of scenery.

And Graham was all boy out there in the country. He ran around and played with dirt and rocks, just like a little boy should! He was so funny at the egg hunt because he found one egg, then he was done! He ran off to show Daddy and didn't feel the need to find anymore eggs! ha!

Saturday evening we went to my brother's new house and saw it for the first time. We got to visit with him, his fiance, and my mom. Then we got to eat BBQ for dinner. I'm sorry, but the BBQ here in San Antonio is NOTHING compared to what we used to eat in Houston. When we lived in Humble, there were 2 places right by our house that had some of the best BBQ ever (Tin Roof and Spring Creek). We thought for sure when we got to SA, there'd be some good BBQ. We were highly disappointed. There are several different places, some better than others, but they don't hold a candle to our old faves. Then my brother told us about this frozen yogurt place where they have all these different flavors and toppings, so we went there afterwards. Sunday morning we got up and went to church at our old church and it was so nice to get to see everyone again and introduce them to Leah! Afterwards we ate lunch at Eric's mom's and then headed home that afternoon. It was a VERY full weekend. We were all exhausted when we got here. The kids all slept til 9:00 or later this morning. Leah even slept a good 6 hour stretch last night!

Leah is 6 weeks old today! And I am now proud to report that she is exclusively nursing during the day! I am still pumping at night, and giving her bottles of expressed milk during the night. I still can't believe this has worked out so well for us! She is growing great and getting so strong!

Thank you God, for DVR

I remember when all my other kids were babies - I had the entire overnight tv lineup memorized. There was only so much on (especially when you didn't have cable) in the middle of the night (another joy of those 2 am feedings). With Natalie I watched "Head of the Class" and "Perfect Strangers" on Nick at Night. And what sucked about that was that they showed the same episodes at 1am and 4am, so depending on when Natalie woke up, some nights I had to watch the same episode twice! lol With Erica, I watched "Charles in Charge" and something else that I can't recall. And I don't remember at all what I watched with Graham. (Isn't that weird that I can recall more details from 6 years ago than just last year?) But now, with Eric working for AT&T, we get a great deal on cable. So NOW, we have a DVR and I don't know how I lived without it before! My list of recorded series keeps growing. But that's ok, because they come in real handy during those middle of the night feedings and hour long nurse-a-thons (that's right, I've all but dumped the pump and have a very eager nurser now!).

Here's a run-down:
19 Kids and Counting
Ace of Cakes
American Idol
Dancing with the Stars
Gilmore Girls (repeats on ABC Family)
Parenthood
The Marriage Ref
The Office

Anyone else watching any of these? Have suggestions of series you think I might like based on these?

My favorite for American Idol is Lee. There is something about him that I just LOVE. I've never been gone for the bad boys, so maybe it's his somewhat reserved and shy nature that I'm drawn to? And let's not ignore the fact that, that boy can sing! *swoon*

Dancing with the Stars is tough for me. There is just something about Kate Gosselin that's like a train wreck. I just can't not look. I was ready to strangle my tv this week when she was treating her partner just like she treated Jon, and was so upset and confused when he "quit". HELLO????? Do you see a pattern here? So part of me wants her to leave and get back to mothering her 8 children, but part of me needs her to stay lol. Nicole is obviously one of the (if not THE) best dancer, but I'm just not a big fan of hers. But she and Derek can definitely hang around, I won't complain! I think for now, I'm rooting for Aiden and Edyta. I just really really like Edyta, and I really want her to take home that mirrorball trophy! (has anyone else noticed how weird some of those people were pronouncing mirror? or was that just me?)

So again, thank you God, for DVR. I am highly entertained because of it.
